Steampunk
What is Steampunk?
Steampunk has developed into a well known concept and is the best known of the cyberpunk genres. If we take a look in the encyclopedia it is defined as follows:
- science fiction dealing with 19th-century societies dominated
by historical or imagined steam-powered technology -
defined by Merriam-Webster
Steampunk was "invented" in the 1980ies but is based on a 19th century look mixed with anachronistic technologies. Typically with the aesthetics and technology of Victorian times. Although the term steampunk is from the 1980s, Many authors have been considered as writing in the genre in retrospect, often highlighted by Jules Verne, but there are many more. Typically, however, is the very positive approach to technology and discovery as opposed to a more dystopian society. Steampunk is both literature and practice. Books (old and new), theater, movies, graphics, pictures, self-built or remodeled gadgets, clothes and cosplay.
I hope you find this blog an inspiration in order to keep keep the motivation going. Emphasis is on original old material and of course new images of old things / technologies. Because it is a Danish blog, the angle is Danish but with pointers to other cultures.
